Maximizing the Power of the Horse


Dates: 

May 12, 2023

December 15, 2023

Goals:

• Learn the basics of horse psychology

• Identify powerful messages horses communicate that provide valuable therapeutic information

• Equip mental health professionals and equine professionals with the skills to identify and interpret horse cues to aid in therapy

• Gain a further understanding of the importance of the horse’s role in the EAP team

• Learn to evaluate a session using “horse sense”

• Improve in incorporating the horse into the therapy team through “hands on” applications and processing

The purpose of this workshop is to provide horse professionals and mental health professionals with the skills and keen awareness of horse body language and personalities in order to maximize the use of the horse in EAP sessions.

Workshop Rate: 

Early Bird Rates: $300 p/person

Group Rate: $275 p/person for 2 or more (includes lunch)

Late Registration: $350 p/person

**Early bird registration=one month prior to workshop date AND discounted rate when paired with 1 day Focus Intensive Internship (1 day focus intensive internship add-on for additional $250)

June 22-23, 2023: “Business Development: Getting started, PR, networking, finding my team, programming.”

July 15, 2023: “Reading horse cues, role of Equine Specialist, and safety interventions.”

September 15-16, 2023: “Mandrell Method: Equine Assisted Trauma-Informed Treatment Protocol”

November 9-10, 2023: “Building a Veteran Program”

December 16, 2023: “Reading horse cues, role of Equine Specialist, and safety interventions.”

 


Learning objectives and goals: 

• Design individualized treatment plans and programming utilizing Eagala activities and philosophies based on client needs/goals for therapy

• Identify and interpret horse behavior as it is beneficial to Eagala sessions

• Apply the principles of Eagala in practice

• Compare Eagala model practice when working with different client populations

Focus Program Immersion Internship Rates: 

Early Bird Rates: $300 p/person per day

Group Rate: $275 p/person for 2 or more per day (includes lunch)

Individual Intensive Program ImmersionInternship:

One-on-One Format Options

Dates for Individualized Internships: Year round as scheduled with Individual

 

Learning objectives and goals:

• Design individualized treatment plans and programming utilizing EAP activities and philosophies based on client needs and goals for therapy

• Identify and interpret horse behavior as it is beneficial to EAP sessions

• Apply the principles of EAP in practice

• Compare EAP model practice when working with different client populations

Independent Internship Content Description: Each day begins with treatment team meeting discussing clients for the day and treatment planning. 4 hours of direct client contact that is tailored to intern’s interest. Client populations include individuals (child and adults), family/marital, group, and corporate. Each day ends with one hour of supervision and debriefing.

6 CEU hours per day for Individualized Program Immersion Internship

(Example: 6 hours X 3 days = 18 CEU’s)


Cost for Individualized Program Immersion Internship: 

$750 p/day per individual

OR

$900 p/day as team

 

 

Independent Study of “Intro to EAP” Textbook

Dates: anytime (at participants request)

 

Learning objectives and goals:

• Identify and define basic terms and concepts which are needed for advanced practice and certification in EAP

• Outline the theories behind EAP

• Apply the principles of EAP to practical problems

• Analyze current research findings that support EAP

• Compare and contrast various approaches to EAP and their levels of effectiveness

• Design individualized treatment plans utilizing EAP activities and philosophies based on client needs and goals for therapy

• Identify and interpret horse behavior as it is beneficial to EAP

Content Description: Read textbook chapter and answer discussion questions at end of each chapter, submit answers for feedback and certificate of completion

CEU hours: 20 hours for entire book -OR- 1 CEU hour per chapter


Cost: 

$500 for entire book (copy of textbook included)

OR

$50 per chapter (textbook purchased separately)
